The world of banking is changing fast, and neobanks like N26 are leading the way. Known for shaking up traditional banking with their digital-only approach, N26 is now taking a bold step into a new industry: telecommunications. Starting this Wednesday, N26 customers in Germany can sign up for mobile data plans directly from the N26 app, marking the bank’s official entry into the telecom sector.
N26 SIM launches with three different data plans, all designed for maximum flexibility. The service uses Vodafone’s 5G network, ensuring fast and reliable connections. Every plan comes with unlimited calls and texts within Germany, as well as free roaming across the European Union and the European Economic Area. There are no long-term contracts—customers can cancel their plan with just one month’s notice.

Setting up a new plan is quick and easy. N26 uses eSIM technology, so there’s no need to wait for a physical SIM card or visit a store. Everything is handled digitally, and activation takes just a few minutes. Customers can choose to keep their current phone number or get a new one provided by N26.
Here are the three plans N26 is offering:
- Plan S: 10 GB for €13.99 per month
- Plan M: 30 GB for €19.99 per month
- Plan L: 100 GB for €34.99 per month
Right now, these mobile plans are only available in Germany, but N26 has said it’s considering expanding to other countries, including Spain.
It’s not only N26
N26’s move isn’t happening in isolation. Other neobanks are also exploring the telecom space. Just days ago, Revolut announced its own mobile plan for customers in the UK and Germany, following a year after it launched an eSIM focused on roaming and travel. These new services show that neobanks are looking for ways to offer more value and convenience to their users, going beyond banking to become all-in-one digital platforms.
It’s still early to know how customers will respond to these new telecom offerings, but one thing is clear: neobanks like N26 are determined to keep innovating and expanding into new areas. As the lines between banking and other digital services continue to blur, customers can expect even more options and flexibility in the future.
