Revolut, the British fintech giant that started as a commission-free money transfer app, is taking a bold step into the physical world. Today, the company announced the launch of its very first network of ATMs, with Spain chosen as the testing ground for this ambitious expansion. What began as a purely digital experience is now evolving, as Revolut aims to bridge the gap between online convenience and real-world accessibility.
The rollout begins at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival, marking the debut of the first Revolut ATMs. Over the coming months, the company plans to install up to 200 machines across Spain, starting with 50 terminals in high-traffic areas of Madrid and Barcelona, such as Avinguda Diagonal and Calle de Toledo. Users will be able to locate these ATMs easily through an interactive map in the Revolut app.
Reinventing the ATM for the digital age
Unlike traditional cash machines, Revolut’s ATMs are designed with the digital customer in mind. They feature a modern interface, touchscreen navigation, contactless payment compatibility, and multilingual support. For Revolut customers, withdrawals will be free of extra charges, both domestically and across Europe. Non-customers can also use the service, but with a competitive fee. In the near future, Revolut plans to add Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), allowing users to choose between the bank’s exchange rate or Revolut’s at the time of withdrawal.
But the innovation doesn’t stop at cash withdrawals. Revolut is already planning to enable cash deposits at these ATMs in later phases, further expanding the range of services available at these physical points.
Spain as the launchpad for European expansion
The choice of Spain is no coincidence. Barcelona is home to one of Revolut’s key tech hubs and is seen as a strategic city for the company’s European ambitions. After Spain, Revolut intends to expand its ATM network to other countries, including Germany, Italy, and Portugal, starting in 2026.

This move signals a new era for Revolut, where physical infrastructure complements its digital-first approach. As Manjot Bhati, Operating Partner at Revolut, put it: “Launching our own ATM network marks a decisive step in our mission to offer a truly global and frictionless financial experience.”
A new chapter in the banking battle
Revolut’s foray into physical banking infrastructure is more than just a convenience upgrade—it’s a direct challenge to traditional banks. By combining the flexibility of digital finance with the accessibility of physical ATMs, Revolut is positioning itself as a serious contender in the Spanish banking sector. Just as Netflix and Amazon disrupted their industries by starting on the margins, Revolut is now pushing the boundaries of what a fintech can be.
As the company continues to blur the lines between digital and physical banking, all eyes will be on Spain to see if this bold experiment pays off—and if the rest of Europe is ready for the next wave of fintech innovation.
