Online shopping has become an essential part of daily life for millions of consumers. The 2025 survey “Payment Methods: The Ultimate Decision” by PaynoPain, a payment solutions provider, revealed that three out of ten Spaniards (30%) shop online at least once a week—a figure that reflects the maturity of e-commerce in Spain.
The study’s statistics show how e-commerce has evolved into a widespread and regular habit among users. Specifically, 3% of respondents shop daily, 19% do so several times a week, and 30% make purchases once every seven days. In addition, 37% buy products or services at least once a month, while only 11% say they rarely shop online—confirming that e-commerce has become a standard consumption channel in Spain.
The growing frequency of online shopping shows that e-commerce is no longer a secondary option but a primary means of consumption. The rapid digitalization of recent years and the increasing consumer trust in online purchases have fueled this shift.
Furthermore, the fact that 22% of respondents shop several times a week or daily highlights a highly connected and digitally dependent consumer profile, posing new challenges and opportunities for businesses.
The importance of payment methods
In this context, having efficient, secure payment systems that meet user expectations becomes a decisive factor for digital businesses. Consumers demand seamless shopping experiences, with fast, flexible, and frictionless payment methods that also ensure maximum transaction security. For merchants, offering multiple payment options, integrating innovative solutions, and ensuring data protection have become essential.
“The results of our survey reflect a definitive change in consumer habits in Spain: online shopping is no longer an occasional activity but part of the daily routine for millions of people. For businesses, this means that having a digital presence is not enough—they must provide payment experiences that are fast, secure, and trustworthy. At PaynoPain, we work precisely to ensure they have the technology needed to satisfy and retain their customers,” says Jordi Nebot, CEO and founder of PaynoPain.
